TypeMatrix Keyboards in the News Click here to return to the News Index Page (BIOS magazine, February 26, 2003 original full article)"Input Device: EZ-Reach" TypeMatrix's EZ-Reach keyboard claims
it will make you type faster as well as reduce RSI (Repetitive
Strain Injury). It does this by rearranging keys in vertical
columns, providing an embedded number pad and repositioning some keys. US-based TypeMatrix assures users that its
35.56 x 17.78 x 1.27cm EZ-Reach keyboard will significantly reduce pain
in fingers, hands and wrists caused by repetitive strain motions. It
claims to achieve this by arranging its keys in columns, offering larger,
centrally-positioned Backspace, Tab and Enter keys, as well as providing
an embedded number pad. The membrane keys are also meant to offer a light
and responsive feel (key force - 55gm +/- 10gm,
key travel - 3.00 mm +/- 0.5 mm). The EZ-Reach otherwise uses standard
19mm key sizes. Other ergonomic enhancements include a split design for your left and
right hands, as well as a low profile, which should reduce strain on
your wrists. Additionally, the keyboard promotes a neutral mouse
placement by letting the mouse sit 2 in. from the user's right hand,
says TypeMatrix. Also bundled with the keyboard is a typing tutor package, called
MasterMind, as well as a USB adapter for connecting the keyboard
to a PC or Mac. by Rob Christian, 26.02.03
